Music from the Film
Gary Young and Arthur Harrison have been basking in obscurity together for over 22 years. In the late 1980s and through the '90s they released several cassette tapes in extremely short runs under the moniker Bone Bunny, and with others in the acts New Killers On The Block and Entfred. Gary also worked with the Washington DC band Drooling Zoomers and Arthur with the bands Jobs For America and Stolen Government Binder Clip. Music From The Film emerged in 2007, representing a departure from many of Gary's previous projects by virtue of purposeful composition, in contrast to the former releases of hastily-compiled practice sessions. Kevin Buckholdt (also affiliated with the groups Prom Concussion, The Parlor Scouts, Get A Tan, and others) plays drums and percussion.
Chester Hawkins (Washington DC) has recorded and performed a wide range of experimental music since 1985. The best-known project was BLUE SAUSAGE INFANT, which began as an exercise in modern audio Dadaism (via musique concrète and tape-collage) and later expanded to embrace drone, krautrock, electronic psychedelia, noise, and improvised sound design. After 28 years, the BLUE SAUSAGE INFANT project was retired and new works continue to focus on dynamic thrill-rides of sound: Using an arsenal of electronics, tapes, acoustics, and modified instruments, the goal is to create deep trance states with a glaze of paranoid tension. New CD due in January 2014.
Improvised & composed musics with electronics, tapes, junk, etc.
Tag Cloud (Chris Videll) started in 2009 as a series of obscure experiments with field recordings and has come to include analog electronics, fx, cheap keyboards, metal percussion, shruti box, etc. Best described at this point as "electroacoustic sound sculpture and carpets of drone".
Lestrygonian is guitarist Diego Aguilar, a college student in the SF Bay Area who was born and raised in Silver Spring. With musical idols ranging from Elaine Radigue to Oren Ambarchi and Miles Davis, he is staunchly opposed to knowing what the performance sounds like before it actually occurs. On this night, he'll be joined by longtime friend Basil Chiasson on tuba.
Born in 1978
Guillermo Pizarro & unKNWN
Guillermo Pizarro (1987) is a noise artist from Falling Waters, WV. He started experimenting in 2010 with prepared guitar and drone compositions, and has since then moved to experimenting with amplified objects to create his noisy textures. His interest in portraying the influence he gets from his small town surroundings and current mental state are a main driving force to his compositions. He has an upcoming split release through Virginia’s SEVEN1878 Imprint that accurately hints at what is to come for his 2nd full-length, aiming for an early 2014 release. Guillermo also works in collaboration with Christopher S. Feltner for guitar based noise duo, Arterial.
Insect Factory is music from Silver Spring, MD musician Jeff Barsky. Insect Factory focuses on texture and mood, building layers of dense sounds that slowly evolve into hypnotic and atmospheric drones. Since the 90's, Barsky has continuously played in bands and improvisational collectives, and has performed frequently on the east coast of the U.S., and also in Canada, throughout Europe, and Japan.
