PAS Musique, Black Saturn, Gleb Kanasevich, Weed Tree
PAS Musique started in 1995 out of Brooklyn, NY, USA, driven by the creative talents of Robert L. Pepper working in the mediums of sound and video. Since then PAS has evolved into a collective with many different instrumentations and lineups. Permanent members include Amber Brien, Jon Worthley, Michael Durek, and Robert L. Pepper. Guests and occasional collaborators include, Brett Zweiman, David Tamura, Jim Tuite, Brandstifter, Robin Storey, Philippe Petit, ZEV!, HATI, Steve Beresford, Will Seesar, Matt Chilton (Vultures), Anthony Donovan (Vultures), Al Margolis, and many others.
PAS have released 10 full length releases and have been on several compilations throughout the years. Some of these can be found on www.alrealonmusique.com, www.cdbaby.com or iTunes. PAS have performed in 13 countries and all throughout the United States. Sound and video installations have also included Chile and the United States. PAS have also performed at Fausts Avant Garde Festival 2009 and 2010, the 18th Olympia Experimental Festival in Washington, the 2010 Spark Festival in Minneapolis, and the 2011 CoCArt Festival in Torun Poland.
PAS Musique also curates events in New York such as Experi-MENTAL nights, Ambient-Chaos nights and the Experi-MENTAL Festival once a year at Goodbye Blue Monday.
Black Saturn hails from the DMV(District of Columbia/Maryland/Virginia).In 2006,he debuted with his self-released EP,Birds in the Morning.Since that time his experimental, hiphop, industrial, noise and dub influenced sound has graced numerous pod casts, collaborations, net labels, and radio airwaves. In 2012 Black Saturn released his autobiographical album of life lessons "Ned Jackson is my Little Brother"(ALRN030).Described in a Foxy Digitalis review by Chris Trowell ‘as a financial crisis Sun-RA;with folk wisdom eccentricities merged with interplanetary black consciousness and bleak recession era urban reality’.Joining the hiphop/concrete/dub/industrial project of Nyko Esterle "Ripit" & Jonathan Uliel "HHY" from Belgium/Portugal known as Fujako. Brought further attention to "Ned Jackson is my Little Brother" (ALRN030).On they’re Oct/Nov European tour billed as"Fujako feat…m.c. Black Saturn. With tour dates in France, Italy, Austria, Germany, Switzerland & Belgium.Opening for underground music heavy hitters, hiphop veteran Sensational of "Jungle Brothers" & "Wordsound Recordings" fame at the Small but Hard Label showcase in Berlin. And Death Grips in Brussels at Magasin 4. Black Saturn is also known for his collaborative effort’s with, Kansas City, Mo based musician Christophe Gilmore(FluiD).Together they are known as Black Saturn vs. Subduxtion and have multiple releases available on Alrealon Musique.Their releases received very favorable reviews as well as extensive airplay in North America and Europe.In 2010, the duo did a brief string of preformances in the US. Black Saturn’s most recent activities in 2013 include.Collaborating with[owt kri] on his new release The New Seed(ALRN041).And providing the word sound for the online collaboration project Omega Dub Experience(sound cloud.com/omega-dub-experience).
Described as an "elegant" and "natural" performer by the Maryland press, Gleb Kanasevich has appeared as a soloist with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Belarus National Philharmonic, Peabody Symphony Orchestra, Peabody Chamber Orchestra, the Peabody Camerata, Lunar Ensemble, Baltimore Concerto Orchestra, and the Frederick Youth Orchestra.
As a fellow and student artist, he has made solo and chamber appearances on stages of Norfolk Chamber Music Festival (as member of Norfolk Contemporary Ensemble), Spoleto Festival USA, Atlantic Music Festival, soundSCAPE Festival for Contemporary Music, Klangspuren Schwaz/Ensemble Modern Akademie Festivals, Moritzburg Festival Academy, Institute and Festival for Contemporary Performance at the Mannes New School, Community Concerts at Second and the Shriver Hall New Artist series in Baltimore. In 2013 he made his first appearance as a faculty member at the soundSCAPE Festival for New Music in Maccagno, Italy, presenting two full-length unaccompanied recitals.
In addition to being a champion of a wide variety of contemporary repertoire, Gleb is a dedicated composer of concert and electro-acoustic music. He has received commissions from Fundacion Musica AntiquaNova in Argentina, Spoleto Festival USA, Racz/Samogray Duo, Alexander Milovanov, Soundscape Festival and various collective commissions on Kickstarter. At this point, Mr. Kanasevich has premiered over a hundred works of living composers.
Mr. Kanasevich currently plays with and composes for the Lunar Ensemble, a Baltimore-based group dedicated to performing contemporary chamber music alongside twentieth century chamber music classics, and Cantata Profana, a group based out of New Haven.
He recently received his Masters Degree in Clarinet, studying with professor David Shifrin at the Yale School of Music, and also taught clarinet at the college level in Yale University. Mr. Kanasevich holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Clarinet from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University where he studied under Metropolitan Opera’s Principal clarinetist Anthony McGill.
His playing can be heard on the 2011 NEOS label release “Music of Marcela Pavia and Max E. Keller,” and in March 2012, he released his debut solo album, “Refractions,” with five premiere recordings of music by award-winning composers Viet Cuong, Alican Camci, Rodrigo Bussad, as well as his original works. In February, 2014 he has release the sequel solo release "Refractions Vol.2" which revolves around works of American composers utilizing various electronic forces. He is represented by Chesapeake International Artists.
